Maybe they will be River episodes? Or maybe the Doctor will encounter random one-off companions (I usually don't like that, but you never know). Or maybe Rory will somehow stick around for a bit longer after Amy is gone, if she dies? I can't really see that. I vote for eight episodes of adventures with River, then hanging up her boots for good in the story.
