And I am super excited. I expect nothing less than the most fun I'll have at the movies this year.
Unrealistic? There is a God coming to Earth teaming up with a super soldier from WW2 and you call the fact they do unrealistic?
See, my suspension of disbelief only works for certain things. For instance, when reading Harry Potter, I can easily accept that there is magic of all kinds, that regular people are muggles, and so forth. When watching a superhero movie, I can easily accept that I'm seeing a guy (or girl) with superhuman abilities, and that other such people exist for the superhero to battle and save the world from. That's totally fine. I can believe and accept that Thor, Iron Man, Loki, Captain America, Hulk, and whoever the others are all exist in the same universe at the same time. That's totally fine by me.
However, while I can accept their powers and all that comes with them as given, I continue to evaluate the "realism" of whatever I am watching or reading based on the character interactions, motivations, and other such things. And by those standards, which are unaffected by the presence of the supernatural, I find it unrealistic that a bunch of godlike good guys would ally and work together, first of all because they work alone and generally like it that way. Second, because their power levels are incompatible, so the strongest should be able to wipe the floor with the weakest with ease (unless I'm seriously missing something). And third, because no need for them to ally could exist. Kotagg pointed out below that the threat in this movie isn't just Loki but some other beings that he has allied with. While that would account for the need for all the superheroes to unite, it opens up a different can of worms... As in, why would those villains work together? Because the good guys at least are good guys, so they have some incentive to work together, being generally decent people and all. But the bad guys would be even less inclined to work together, make an even more incompetent team, and have even more dreadful teamwork.
Anyway... I'm losing my train of thought here. But yes, I can accept the existence of the superheroes, and it is the way they are banded together that I find unrealistic. *shrug*
Since when is fanservice a bad thing? You'd rather have them do the opposite of what we want?
lol. No, fanservice to some extent is a good thing. You won't see me complaining that female superheroes should wear less skimpy outfits or anything like that.
It's just that to me, the whole premise of the movie seems like fanservice. So fanservice that is small and in rather insignificant details is fine, but when it takes center stage, I disapprove of it.
You're right about the subplot, most probably but it'll be just fine.
Yeah. The whole movie will be fine. I'm not arguing that it'll be bad. In fact, I think it'll be very enjoyable, even for me if I see it. I'm just saying that for me, there is no sense of euphoria over this movie. It's just another blockbuster for me.
New Avengers trailer.

It's not as if this movie franchise came up with the idea of teaming them up

Like I said, I never read the comics. But I'm totally fine with blaming them for the crossover

I was under the impression that several of them who are not Thor don't, in fact, have powers

I agree that a film/show/book etc. should always obey it's internal logic

I had no problem with League or Watchmen. Well, not "no" problem... but not that much.
