Yeah, but it stands to reason. They are less able to resolve situations with intermediate use of force (i.e. wrestling suspects to the ground), and thus have to resort to drawing their weapons. It's not that they're violent or unsuited, as my mentioning that detail was mostly humorous, but for some fairly good reasons, it is one of those tendencies. Contrary to what TV might tell us, where twig-shaped cops like Stana Katic & Angie Harmon effortlessly drive violent suspects to their knees with a twist of the arm, real cops putting someone on the ground is much more of a sustained effort with lots grunting and punching. It's a lot more funny to watch than experience (from either end), but not nearly as glamorous or related to mental toughness (or training in a gym in a plain-yet-sexy outfit designed to show us she's a regular normal girl who happens to be hot) as Hollywood seems to think. Much safer for the cops and potential victims in the vicinity to whip out the gun and order them to the ground. Of course, when a gun comes out, the liklihood of being fired increases too...

Also, a lot of criminals (particularly the minor disorderly offenders, who think what they are doing is not serious enough to warrant being restrained or subdued) are unlikely to take a female cop seriously, and require extra persuasion.
