There's a lot to love about Anime, but I just can't stand the Japanese cultural elements.

I like the art style typical of Anime, and I like that it's a low-effort sort of animation that allows virtually any story to be developed on-the-cheap. There are thousands of Anime shows out there that could never, ever have made it as normal television shows, and I think that's awesome.
Unfortunately, I've never watched an anime in which the characters act ANYTHING like normal human beings. They fly into ridiculous fits of emotion at the drop of a hat, complete with crazy animations and background colors. I can only assume this is something that Japanese people appreciate for some reason. It also seems that, outside of a very few mainstream anime (like pokemon), the plots NEVER make consistent sense.
Anyway, I like anime for its style and low barrier to entry, but most of it just comes off as so incredibly foreign that I have a hard time developing an interest. I wish we could see more Americanized anime being produced.
EDIT: The above notwithstanding, I was absurdly addicted to Digimon in my youth, and still occasionally rewatch some of the episodes.

Could not agree more. Though season 3 wasn't bad. Different, but not bad. 4, on the other hand...eh. *NM*
