My wife and I watched the two-hour premier last night. We enjoy the crime drama shows (she's seen every episode of L&O: Criminal Intent), and for the most part we enjoyed Alcatra last night.
I'm bothered, though, by something I consider to be a blindingly obvious plot hole: if you knew they all disappeared in 1963 and have spent the last 50 years sitting around waiting for them to reappear, why the Hell are you giving public tours on the island?
If you've been expecting them all to come back, you could save yourself a great deal of time, effort, money, and blood (the body count has exceeded 10 that we know of, including two police officers) by just leaving everything locked up with motion sensors to alert you to someone moving around that shouldn't be there... like, say, a "returned" convict STILL IN HIS LOCKED CELL!
Gotta say, that kind of ruins it for me.
