I am not sure I agreed with that. In fact, I think I still prefer the first season, although this is a close second
The second episode of the first season didn't do much for me, sadly. I thought the first and third episodes were great, but the second dragged the season down on the whole in my eyes. In the second season, I loved all three episodes.
I am still not a great fan of this version of Moriarty, but I will say that he is quite evil enough. I have hated him very actively during the last 90 minutes.
He's so weird and creepy. But everything he set up for Sherlock was just evil and genius. And then the final move at the end, leaving Sherlock no choice, because Moriarty is satisfied knowing that he's beaten the best. Except of course he hasn't actually. It was a bit of a jaw-dropping moment though.
I think Holmes jumped into the garbage-thing, landing softly. He kept John away, at a particular angle (very "The Dying Detective" of them), so that he could not see the impact. They needed to see the reaction on Watson's face. Just like the books. Excellent.
I think he used Molly, probably to fake the death certificate. I am not sure who the dead body was. Whether she got a dead body for him, whether he crawled out of the garbage truck and lay down in the blood, or whether Moriarty had a Sherlock-mask which would make that bit sensible.
The man who knocked Watson over was probably a homeless network person.
He did tell him it was a magic trick.
I think you are probably right, even though all the pieces don't quite line up in my mind. I trust they'll go through it when he returns in the next season.
