I don't think it makes sense to fault a movie for looking the same as other movies that take place in the same universe.
However, I felt that the trailer just didn't say anything about the movie. It was just a bunch of images/scenes after each other, some of them not yet gone through final production.
I'll still go see it.

I am sure they know they don't have to show much of anything yet, especially not the dragon, to sell this to the fans. I actually like that they didn't even present the huge eye candy shots yet
