Christian Bale in Newsies; Brooklyn Decker in Just Go With It

Seriously, Brooklyn Decker is the visual equivalent of Morgan Freeman or Ian McKellen, who people say they would pay money to listen to them read the phone book. And then she ends up in this film that...I can't even call it a vanity project for Jennifer Aniston. It's more like a film her mother produced and directed because whoever made it genuinely seems to believe that Aniston is visually impressive when juxtaposed with Decker. They seriously had Decker strip down to a swim suit and dive into the water, followed by a tetragenarian washed-up TV star, and all the male characters jaws dropped at the latter. Only a parent's blind unconditional love could explain the completely ridiculous perspective of this film regarding the comparative appearances of the two female leads. And before anyone gets on their high horse about my being shallow, there was no material worth comparing acting ability (I suspect this "film" was just an excuse for the actors to hang out in Hawaii with a sycophantic production crew), and Decker's character is miles away the most decent human being in the film, and arguably a better mother to Anniston's character's children. And you can spot her in the trailers for the farcical Battleship film, so it looks like we're not going to get to see her in anything else much, unless that turns out to be a lot better than it looks.
As for Christian Bale, you can't even argue that this was an early break-in role. He had co-stared with John Malkovich in Empire of the Sun and I'm pretty sure he made Henry V before Newsies. Disney films need Kiera Knightly or they suck. And some of those do too.

Malkovic didn't really impress on that one IMHO. Irons was good. And then he died.
