I think whether or not someone likes that show hinges on two things.

1) Whether they really liked the books. Some people did. Those who did will have a hard time with the show, because it changes a lot of plot lines around drastically. Personally, I liked the books just enough to be bothered by the unnecessary changes in the show. I don't mind filler episodes with them battling monsters that never existed in the books, or solving a towns problems. I DO have a problem with them changing something as major as how the Sword of Truth works, however. Not only change, but completely reverse. Book sword is fueled by rage, hate, and battle lust. Show sword won't work when you're angry, requires calm intelligent thought, shouldn't be used for great evil! Whatever. I'm sure having a sword that makes the main character go all crazy and hateful isn't great for ratings, but it's still irritating. Another example: the show richard is young, impulsive, and stupid. Book Richard is all about being smart and crafty and wise. Just a complete 180 degree difference. Don't like it.
2) Whether they can tolerate low production values, and how well. Usually, I'm good at this. I even enjoyed the first few shows of Seeker. I couldn't quite put them (the production values) behind me, though, especially when combined with the changes I mentioned in point number one. Yeah though, Richard and Zedd are horrible over-actors. The animation of magical stuff (fire, beasts, etc) is terrible. Writing is pretty poor. That kind of thing. I don't know what kind of budget Seeker has, but it feels a lot more like a 2am SyFy movie than a modern TV show.
Oh, I do want to say one good thing about the show before I leave this thread. Kahlan in general is wonderful (everyone knows this), but more particularly, her magic is done perfectly. The actual effects are changed a bit, (her victims don't follow her because they love her unconditionally and overwhelmingly), but the way it's actually used is amazing. The slowing of time, blurring of surroundings, focus on her eyes, small "whump" that occurs afterward. . .exactly as I pictured it. If she would use that at least once per show, I think I'd watch every episode and not get sick of it. I'm embarrassed to say, but it gives me goosebumps to watch.

I had zero interest until they announced Charisma Carpenter was going to be in it.

That might have been worth it, if you couldn't already find naked pictures of her on the internet. *NM*

Pretty sure Goodkind said outright the show wouldn't match the books

But the show was never going to even be remotely like the books. That's why they changed the name.
