I had always regarded Pink Floyd's music as "weird," and what snippets I'd seen/heard about dealing with this movie came across as weird as well. So I remember that when I watched it as a teen with my older brother, who was a huge fan of it, I was surprised how much I liked it.

I really liked the second half more than the first (probably because, as I said before, I had the hots for Evil Dictator Pink ). Plus, I liked the songs better in the second half. "Comfortably Numb" is my favorite song on the album and I thought they way they handled it was just fantastic. I do think it's inexcusable that they didn't include "Hey You," though, as it's one of the best known songs on the album. I think they left it out because it "disrupted the flow of the movie" or something like that, but I really felt its absence.

I agree with you about the guy who played Pink. He did a really good job of making me like and sympathize with a protagonist who I've always regarded as a whiny, irresponsible, hypocritical little bitch. There were times when I wanted to reach into the screen, hug him and tell him everything was going to be all right He also did a great job with the "evil Pink" persona...sorry to keep going on about it but it was my favorite part of the movie. Hell, "Waiting for the Worms" is like total fetish fuel for me (me and my evil villain fetish, lol)

I also liked the animation, even though, as you said, it's extremely strange. I remember the first time I watched it, my brother refused to let me watch "the Trial" (he actually turned the movie off) because he said it was "too weird." I didn't get to see it until years later, and he was right...it WAS really weird, but I thought it was effective. The other major chunk of animation, "Goodbye Blue Sky" is pretty good too, even though the subject matter gets under my skin

I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other things about the movie too (it's been a long time since I've seen the entire thing), but I remember enjoying it and there were some things about it that have really stuck with me.



I think this was because Pink seemed to associate his wife with his mother, and that was part of the reason he was so disinterested in her and pushed her away. The impression I got was that Pink's mother was so overbearing that she ended up influincing how he related to all women, especially his wife.
