The show never looked that appealing and kinda impossible to get into without having watched it for 30 years.


And each of the runs for the various Doctors is pretty isolated, story-wise. I started watching for the first time with the second season of the new series, when Tennant started, and didn't watch the first season until a couple years later. Never have watched the older seasons. All you need to know is that there's an alien named the Doctor who travels through space and time.
