It's had a big build up in UK, but then there is a heavy British presence in the movie. It's was also Oct school holidays this week, hence the release date, and they have certainly been aiming at the kids and Avatar fans rather than people interested in Tintin.
Personally I'm gonna skip this one, I hate 3D and the animated faces i've seen in clips look horribly false.
