There was a 6th season episode of Buffy like that. Although the final scene from the doctor's/parents' perspective in which Buffy chooses the established fantasy over the alternate reality was rather interesting. Rather than a "see, what we've been watching all this time was the correct reality", you get to see people lamenting her madness and refusal to accept the non-monster-infested reality in which she isn't the world's savior.
