Finally! I can't believe not more people around here watch this, when it's soo brilliant!
Totally see what you mean. I watched the first two seasons on TV earlier this year but they always showed two episodes in a row. Third I watched as set on my own terms, that was awesome. Now, waiting each week is a killer. The show literally enjoys its slowness at times, but it's still among the best things on TV right now.

Yeah, my friend convinced me to watch it (the same friend who recommended The Shield and The Wire to me), so we've been watching it together. It's a fantastic show. The actors are excellent and the tension stays ratcheted up high with every episode, twisting the screw as slowly as it possibly can at times. The camera work and the show's sense of reality and attention to detail really bring it to life. I love the character growth especially. Everything that happens and every way that things get worse can be traced directly back to decisions made by the characters (particularly Walt), and watching how the consequences of those decisions play out, and how the characters are changed and sometimes twisted by those consequences, is a joy. That sounds kind of sadistic. But really, by this point the main character deserves everything that happens, and sometimes I see him as the bad guy who must be defeated. The problem is that the people around him who have been caught up in everything don't deserve it nearly as much, if at all.
But yeah. Hell of a good show. I'm sad that this season is nearly over.
It's been announced that next season will be the last, and will have 16 episodes. I love the sound of that, and am happy that the show is getting to wrap up its story on its own terms.
Fun fact: my three favourite shows on tv right now are Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, and Chuck. Those are three really different shows.

I don't understand the concept of owning shows/movies.

Even if you're only going to watch a show once, it's rather easier that way.

I think there's precedent in the shift of filmed drama to an episodic format.
