While the title kind of suggests a tongue-in-cheek-adventure, this movie actually takes its sources and premise pretty damn serious. It basically is a regular, gritty, mean Western, except that the enemies are aliens here. Maybe a more mysterious title would have worked better, the trailer also showed a little too much from the first half already. That being said, while this isn't a life-changing movie experience, it is a more than decent piece of entertainment. Witnessing Craig being as cool and Ford as grumpy as possible is fun, the supporting cast adds up to that, especially Sam Rockwell as bartender/doctor. The characters are interesting and ambiguous enough, offer more surprises than you'd expect from such a film. The showdown is fun and exciting, leaving you satisfied with the film, even though it had potential to be even more. If only it didn't take itself a little too seriously. Looks like the US audience agrees.

I agree -- Craig has a stony enough profile & disposition for it. *NM*
