And how suprised I was that everyone else thought it was a steaming pile of manure. I could understand not liking it as much as the original movies, but I never understood how it and the other two deserve the utter loathing they constantly get.
Then again, I never put the original series on a pedestal like so many others. I liked those movies, but they weren't the be all and end all of cinema for me
I agree here. I liked his character and I really could believe he was the Obi-Wan in the originals.
I thought he was fine, but wasn't blown away.
Totally agree. Loved the music.
Meh. Maybe it's just that I'm no longer really impressed by special effects anymore, because they're used too often they aren't really "special" anymore
Dopn't get me wrong, there's nothing WRONG with that, but it does make it hard for any particular special effect to stand out from the crowd.
Hahahaha! No.
The prequels were never able to convince me, not even for a moment, that this guy was Darth Vader. He was too young, whiny, awkward...his entire character just felt completely different from the regal and menacing character from the originals. And I really did try and see wha tthey were going for, but he just never came across like Darth Vader. That was one thing I agree with the nay-sayers about.
This never bothered me. In fact, I was one of the ones who WANTED Luke to get the girl, so having her be his sister was a good way of making it palatable that he didn't.
The other problems mentioned by this don't really seem to be cause by Luke and Leia being siblings, but rather, are just general plot problems that are independent of the sibling relationship.
True. I always thought having another Death Star was redundant.
He never came across as lame to me. The dymanics between the two characters always came across as a bit of a power struggle to me (the guy in charge of the Death Star and the henchman the emperor sent would obviously clash, and maybe Vader is deferring to keep the peace for because the Emperor told him to so he didn't jeapordize the mission or something)
Does this guy really not know the difference between killing people in battle and murdering a bunch of defenseless children? ' />
Guess I never noticed
Anyway, I do recognize that the prequels are flawed films (one of the only GOOD negative reviews of them I've ever seen is Confused Mathew's, where he actually dissects the plot instead of screaming about Jar Jar Binks and/or how a particular random scene in one of them contradicts Expanded Universe Novel #2254C), but they had many enjoyable moments and I've never really understood why people consider them to be SO bad. They were fun popcorn movies. Just like how I've always viewed the original trilogy.

3. The Music
Totally agree. Loved the music.

5. The Subtle Vader-like Qualities of Anakin
Hahahaha! No.

5 Dumb Things in The Classic Films
As a disclaimer: these movies rock. They are structured well, with mostly great internal plots backed up by simple themes, which get slightly more complex as the series progresses. However, what we forget about the classic movies is how sloppy they were in a lot of areas, and how lazy some of the storytelling really is. Here’s what I mean.
1. The Love Triangle/Leia Being Luke’s Sister
2. The Second Death Star
True. I always thought having another Death Star was redundant.
3. Vader’s Lameness in A New Hope/Why Tarkin?
He never came across as lame to me. The dymanics between the two characters always came across as a bit of a power struggle to me (the guy in charge of the Death Star and the henchman the emperor sent would obviously clash, and maybe Vader is deferring to keep the peace for because the Emperor told him to so he didn't jeapordize the mission or something)
4. Why is Luke Suddenly a Badass? /Luke’s Weird Ethics
Does this guy really not know the difference between killing people in battle and murdering a bunch of defenseless children? ' />
5. Confusing Amount of Time Passing in The Empire Strikes Back
Guess I never noticed
