The ending ruined it for me. In fact, it kinda pissed me off. So, it marred how I looked back on the movie. The monster was no E.T, so the "E.T ending" they gave it did not work for me.
Meh. I know a lot of people won't agree that that's a reason to dislike an otherwise enjoyable movie, but it just left such a bad taste in my mouth. And made me feel bad. It killed my enjoyment of the film.
It wasn't an ET ending, he was flying back to Germany to found the Fourth Reich.
