This was more about the "characters" than the topic of discussion, a direction this feature has gradually been leaning towards, which will collapse the series under the egos of its writer/stars.

And why the hell do people keep mistaking Batman for a government official? Eavesdropping to find criminals as in tDK is not MORALLY wrong, it is simply against the agreed upon rules for the governing authorities and judicial procedures of a particular country. Since Batman is not going to use his findings as evidence in court, there is nothing wrong with his methods.
