I have come to the conclusion about this show that I have only reached for one other show (Glee). And I was right then. The people who make the creative decisions on that show are as queer as three-dollar bills (or women, but the character of Lafayette argues otherwise). Nothing else explains the extreme misogyny. There is not a single relationship on the show where the woman deserves the man she is with - in every case, the guy is much better than her, and treats her incredibly well for someone who mostly takes advantage of, manipulates or takes for granted her male partner. The skank waitress has had two really nice boyfriends who had absolutely zero issues with her being so obnoxiously stupid, in addition to a repeat-violator single mother and not at all attractive above the neck. Tara is the single worst human being on the planet and makes most of the regular vampires sympathetic by comparison, so she automatically loses any comparison with any of the unwitting men she has induced to copulate with her. And don't even get me started on how Sookie treats her boyfriend. She was all shocked and acted betrayed at the end of last season with his revelations about spying on her, but it finally gave a rational reason why a cosmopolitan immortal would fall for a somewhat dim hick waitress. And just about every other woman is either a southern trope villainess or monster.
