Torrents Sir Tybalt Send a noteboard - 19/06/2011 02:32:54 PM
Last week I moved to Kosovo. I'll be here for a year. Hulu doesn't work outside the US or Canada, local television is in Albanian, cable TV is limited, and even Youtube has some limitations.

So then a friend mentions torrents. He tells me he watches any movie he wants using torrent downloads. I ask him if they're legal and he says, "They are in Kosova!"

Okay. My guess is torrent files are illegal in the US as each file contains copyrighted material that is being downloaded without anyone getting paid.

Is there a problem with me downloading them outside the US? Is this illegal or not? I was thinking of deleting whatever I download before I return to the US. What do you think about that? I'm usually pretty big on making sure the artist/author gets their money, but in a foreign country with few English options, I'm not sure what else to do.

What about viruses and other potential spyware, etc?

Anybody have any advice? Thanks!
