I was completely prepared to hate this ending, and I did...

As much as it pains me that SGU is now over, I was very satisfied with the way season 2 ended; not on a cliff-hanger as such, but still left wondering.
I'm left wondering if Eli even actually tries to fix the last stasis pod or not, though I would like to think that he does.
We can only wonder what the creators and writers had in mind for a theoretical third season, something we will probably never find out (a small part of me hopes that some network somewhere decides to bring SGU back sometime in the next few years; something this ending actually would allow for).
Those of us who continued to watch were treated to an end of the series that isn't, a bittersweet way to close out what I, and many of my friends, thought was the best of the Stargate franchise, and probably the best show SyFy channel had next to Battlestar Galactica.
If I was to run across a poll now as to what show I would most like to see resurrected, I would easily pick SGU over even Firefly. Blasphemous, I know. I don't care.
But not as much as I thought I would. My main complaint is of course with the fact that there's no more Stargate for the foreseeable future. The way the ending was handled though was great. I would wager that the writers knew that this was going to be their last episode and made it a reasonable sort of ending. I will miss this show more than either of the two before it since it was just starting to spread it's wings and become great. I think your title speaks great things so I'll echo it here, "Goodbye Eli Wallace, you're a good man."
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

Goodbye Eli Wallace, you're a good man.

I was going to add that while he wasn't bad, I thought he was more of an ugly man.

Wouldn't it be nice if HBO picked it up?

Ehh... I'd prefer it to stay away from the sex circus that is HBO original series. :p *NM*

They might get more graphic, but there was quite a bit of sex on the show already.
