I think that scene is just before their final battle in the "arena". They fall together a great height to the rubble strewn courtyard below and fling their signature spells.
I think it was how he grabbed him around the shoulders like that. Maybe if the grab was the forearm, it would be less, "hey make out with me!" and more, "I'm going to pull you in a pit of death."
