That being said I don't think there was any foreshadowing before the 2nd to last episode. Makes me think they had no idea who were going to be the final 5 cylons ahead of time.
That's the general idea. They made their choice of who they would be fairly late in the game, and that's why there's foreshadowing only through s3, not before.
I'm now wondering how they're going to explain Starbuck's absence.

I hope they don't drag that out for the length of the entire last season.

My question is about the TV movie "The Plan". Should this be watched before season 4?
I think most BSG fans would agree with me you shouldn't watch "The Plan" at all. They massively dropped the ball with that one. It's really quite boring.
IRRC, it does openly discuss who the last cylon is, so you should at least wait for that reveal in the last season before watching The Plan. But really.. there's really no good reason to watch The Plan, and if you have to buy it's even worse.
