I have only just discovered this series. [insert obligatory "how come nobody told me about this" + replies to the effect of "we did"]

It suits me perfectly. Tim Roth + the illusion of being able to scientifically investigate lies. It is the type of thing that will keep me hooked for a very long time.


The show is based off the work of Paul Ekman who has spent his career investigating facial micro-expressions. I believe he is a consultant to the show and it might have even been his idea. I believe some facial recognition technology is based off of some of his work. I know he was working with the government on the technology to spot aggressive/"terrorist" types in airports and other public transportation.

Yes, the show is pretty entertaining although the science is a lot more subtle (lots of hours viewing film in slow motion with multiple interpreters).
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
