It's impossible to satisfy everyone when it comes to a film version of a much-loved book, so it's of no surprise that the announcement of the actors cast as Gale and Peeta in the upcoming Hunger Games film was met with nothing short of despair on twitter. I won't pick out any particular quotes, but trust me, you could feel the intense dismay, baffled fury and tearful rants shake the very foundations of the internet itself.* It was a hard time for many.
I'm completely fine with the castings. I reckon they're as close to the book as they can get while still allowing for this to be Twilight 2.0: The Gladiator Edition. These people are shiny. So shiny. I'm not exactly holding out for high quality cinematic gold here, but at least they know their market.
What do you guys think? Have they chosen well?
* this is not true.

As long as they entertain me and follow the books a little bit and aren't silly, I am happy. *NM*
