I've started watching The Tudors recently. It's a well done period series, as far as period clothing go (at least, I'm assuming that the clothing is accurate, perhaps it's off too).
I enjoy the drama well enough, but have a hard time with the historical inaccuracies.
Henry the VIII came from Wales. Yet in the series he is just depicted as if he's English.
He had two sisters. One (the one younger than him, Mary) married the old French king who died in his sleep, not the Portuguese king (nor did she murder him). The elder (Margaret) married the Scottish king.
Mary is the one who married Charles Brandon (she was his third wife). They had 4 children, and when she died he married their son's fiancée, who also happened to be his ward. She was only 14 years old at the time and his son died the next year anyway.
Henry's son with Elizabeth Blount died at age 17, not 8.
Etc.
I wonder to what extent people just take this series in as historically accurate. And why these changes were made at all?

It isn't exactly meant to be particularly realistic.

Well, clearly it's not meant to be accurate, otherwise they wouldn't take so much license
