First off, I've only watched one or two original Green Hornet episodes so I'm not really versed in any inside jokes or geek references in it.

Rogen was unlikeable to me. He was "douchey". I dunno if the original Britt Reid was like that, it didn't click with me. Chou was stiff and didn't emotionally react to anything. I'm pretty sure that if you took out all of the martial arts in this movie, Chou's character would be forgettable. This is bad because Cato literally defined all the action scenes and moved the plot forward.

Realistically, I had very little expectations from this movie. I didn't watch it in 3D because those glasses make my head hurt. Cato-vision was bland and raw. Was the director was shooting for something stylized ala Scott Pilgrim? Well, if he did... I didn't get it.

Around the start of the 3rd Act, the movie passed from boring to passable. It gained a little depth in terms of the story. The action was fun yes but a little off-putting since the logic is so questionable. (SPOILER: "Destroy your employees' workspace with half a car and endanger lives just to upload something as opposed to something safer like hacking any nearby wifi or 3G signal to access the net, this is considering the level of tech and almost infinite financial resources they had. They could've used an iphone and uploaded it as an email attachment...)

I suppose things like these irk me. (e.g. A computer specialist that is portrayed as just typing really fast as if writing a piece of literature as opposed to either doing keyboard shortcuts and savvy mouse clicks)

I was pleasantly surprised with Olmos, but sadly disappointed that he didn't play more into the story. I expected one thing that they did succeed: Cato stole the show. Not with personality, but just because it meant you sided with him and not Seth Rogen who I believe is more of a good supporting actor rather than a lead. I agree with Franco's cameo. He was ill-equipped to be that badass boss type. His lines felt improvised.

Anyway, the movie didn't grab me. Maybe I wasn't the targeted audience. The dialogue needed more work. Casting was questionable. I think that this was Rogen's baby project and he played this one too close to his chest. This movie could have used more input from better screenwriters and cg experts.
