Though I have always been a fan of Orlando Bloom.
It could be good and I'll likely still go see it...but I will go see it with low expectations.
Hopefully they will recapture the magic of the first and not the overly serious and convoluted nonsense of the second and third. We'll see.
The second was actually the highlight I didn't find it overly serious at all.
You're right, it was the third one that was overly serious (i.e. Keira Knightley and her ridiculous speech about the "pirate way of life"). There were definitely redeeming moments in the second.
But low expectations are never a bad thing, then it's easier to come out pleasantly surprised.
I would agree with you, but if your expectations are low then why even bother going at all? Going to the movies is a lot of money for something that you think might be enjoyable, if you lower your expectations enough.

Well, at least I won't have to suffer Orlando Bloomer's blandness.

This one is actually adapted from a great novel that was nominated for the World Fantasy award.

I can't believe they've adapted Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides, one of the best pirate books..
