I can't believe they've adapted Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides, one of the best pirate books..

There are a lot of changes, of course, but the basic story elements remain. When I had heard that Powers had sold the rights to his great fantasy story to Disney, I didn't ever really believe that it'd be a 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie.
The book is amazing, and I highly recommend it to anyone who can find it.

This one is actually adapted from a great novel that was nominated for the World Fantasy award.
