Historically Victoria really did love Albert. When he died she went into mourning for years and always wore black afterwards. On a slight aside it was Albert who helped keep the peace between the British and the Union forces during the Americal civil war. A union ship stopped and boarded a British merchant ship and took off two confederate agents who were traveling to euorope to act as ambassidors for the confederacy. The British were very very anoyed at having their ships boarded and there was a suggestion that they might just have to interveen in the civil war to teach the union forces some manners but Albert managed to calm everyone down.
