There's a reason why it's rated among the best comedies ever - modern viewers who aren't movie critics won't necessarily agree with that assessment, but it is genuinely funny at least.

Some scenes are great enough to make watching the whole thing worth it, but there's also some pretty random stuff. The ending is... yeah. Random.

I liked it a lot, watching it in a movie theatre earlier this year. A lot depends on which version you watch, though. I saw the one without the voice-over, the original has a voice-over.

The Normandy beach landing is iconic. Don't remember being too fascinated by the rest of it, but then I saw it on a bus while unable to hear what they were saying or to read the subtitles, so you should take that with a few grains of salt.
