Plus, Evil Dead is more traditional horror (if you consider a woman being raped by animate tree branches traditional). Evil Dead II is actually fun and ridiculously crazy.
If it wasn't for Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, I don't think it would've been all that much of a cult classic. It was a bad bad bad movie.
