I thought we in Germany got this movie really late. Turns out the UK doesn't even get it before next week, so I may not be as late as I thought. Here's what you can expect:
This computer animated film, presented in 3D, perfectly mixes misanthropic foulness with heart-warming friendliness, making for a highly entertaining result that should please audiences of all ages.
There are plenty of crazy inventions, larger than life super villain plots and tech gadgets. The animation is perfectly done, the pace is quick and offers a great action finale. Although super villain Gru's change to a better human being thanks to the adorable foster children he needs to invade his nemesis' fortress, is rather predictable, we enjoy every minute of his way. His goofy and clumsy little Minions are already iconic animation characters high up there with Ice Age's Scratch or Shrek's Donkey.
A funny and lovable film that will leave you with a smile on your face. One of the highlights of this year's animated family entertainment.
8 out of 10 freeze rays.
