Hell yes. Remaking movies that are less than three years old is truly pathetic.

We know the stories. Hollywood is just lazy. I'm sick of them regurgitating stuff and expecting us to watch. I'll go see new ideas and concepts but I'm not going to movies that obviously copy existing movies, including ones that remake foreign movies in English (like that idiotic Swedish Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie).
After they did it with the Larsson movies, they also did it now with that Swedish child-vampire movie. The NYT review for that remake was good, but I was disappointed that they didn't comment on how ridiculous the practice is in the first place.
And don't get me started on that "let's reboot the Spiderman series after three movies" nonsense, either.
Though, like Jen, I'm willing to make some exceptions, if the re-make is really better or somehow more relevant than the original version. To give an obvious example, Disney's Beauty and the Beast was a superb movie within its category, and not made any less so by the fact there were a number of older movies of that story, including Cocteau's marvelous version.
I am officially refusing to see any "re-boots" of movies ever again.

SW is the only one I'm okay with, just so I can see it in a theater again. *NM*

Agreed about the Millenium Trilogy. The original is mediocre, and Fincher's will be excellent. *NM*
