It did feel a little awkward as the writers were trying to reconnect the characters.

However, with the way Ryan and Esposito were treating Castle, I thought they also wanted an apology. I kept waiting for that interaction but it didn't happen.

Overall it was a good episode. Not one of the best, but still enjoyable.
