My thoughts on this first episode (spoiler free) Jeordam Send a noteboard - 20/09/2010 10:16:54 PM
I definately think that it has potential. Most definately in fact. While watching it, the viewer is definately taken to a different era. The sets/costumes are perfect for that time period, and if I wasn't mistaken, some of the audio stuff was actual recordings from the era. It was very authentic in that regard.

As per the acting, there wasn't anything really stand out-ish in this episode. Mainly because it was just setting the stage for the rest of the season/series. Who I'm thinking are the main characgers were introduced. The main storyline (all about the Prohibition times) was established.

Ultimately, I have a weakness for original series from the different pay channels. They have a higher degree of freedom from regular broadcast content, and as such, I find that their creativity is better. Granted, some series get graphic for the sake of being graphic, but other use it for artistic/story telling purposes. I'm guess that this will be the latter.

I'm definately going to be giving it a try.

I've seen compared more to Rome and Deadwood than Sopranos. - 21/09/2010 12:06:29 AM 482 Views
