I prefer it to Trek because its emphasis is on characters, not technology.

It's a little self-indulgent at times, and seasons vary in quality, but ultimately a great show. My favorite era of the show was the middle of Season 2. I didn't like a lot of season 3, but loved most of 4. Some hated the end of 4 and the ending, so your mileage may vary.
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
