Ah yes...of course you are missing the fact that they are not talking about predjudice about black people here but gays,
Your point being? People are still not undead monsters that prey on normal people. The attempts by the show to ridicule the prejudice by portraying it as applied to vampires is still missing the point, because the vampires can, do and are all the worst things people say about them! and the books are much much more than twilight for grown ups...they actually do make some of the vampires evil
All of the vampires ARE evil on the show. There is exactly one good vampire, and he has more crimes on his record than most serial killers. But to go farther would be to begin to talk about your politics which though I am an economic conservative I am so more liberal than you on social issues I look like Larry...and I don't feel like talking about that now. Will try to find time to do so tomorrow.
It has nothing to do with politics or issues, but rather the obnoxious way it makes its points. I have no objection to liberal content of TV shows as such (I defy you to find a post of mine where I have complained about that), and in fact have little use for most of the groups so targetted on True Blood. It has nothing to do with politics but rather with the wish that they attempt to tell a story, whatever the underlying values or cultural mindsets it takes for granted. The universal liberal assumptions of all TV shows makes protesting a show on that basis ridiculous. In this one however, they are doing a pathetic, illogical smear-job that is reduced to having their targets belittle the appearance of their enemies in a television interview. If you want to make points, make them honestly, and make up your minds whether or not the enemy is a real threat or contemptible and harmless and worthy only of scorn and mockery. The writers want it both ways. They want to be the powerful and smart ones who cannot be touched and always come out on top, but they also want to portray themselves as courageous for taking on this vast and dangerous threat. and it has thought and head stuff not just silly sexless romance.
I was not comparing the quality of the writing, but the same essential plotline of feminine wish-fulfillment, with an inept, retarded heroine and an idealized male love interest who is a vampire who worships her for no explained or convincingly portrayed reason, and a canine-changing man who worships her and lets her use him and walk all over him.Always love seeing your posts by the way as controversy is sure to follow .
I can't help the reactions of semi-literate people like Aisha, who appears to be gearing up for her knee-jerk liberal defense. I can't wait to see how she defends the anti-Christian bias of the show given her probable reaction to anything that would dare attack the religion of 9/11. semi-literate...the religion of 9-11....nice.

That's just chick-fic vampire law. Male vampires are made by female vampires who lead them astray
