Great characters and great chemistry between them. The plots are never perfect and the occasional silly solution occurs, but that isn't really why we watch anyway. The network that produces them (USA), has a real knack for buying and/or developing shows with well-developed and interesting characters. In fact, their slogan is "Characters Welcome".
I agree. The plots lack refinements sometimes. I haven't checked whether they use different writers, but I have noticed that it varies a LOT in quality. But yes, I keep watching for the characters.
I don't know what airs where you are, but USA is responsible for White Collar, Psych, Royal Pains, Burn Notice, and In Plain Sight. The only one of those we don't watch is In Plain Sight. None of those are really about the plot, they are about the characters. That's why we like them. They have a new show coming out that is being paired up with White Collar called Covert Affairs that we are going to check out as well.
I have never heard of the other ones.
I can't vouch for all of them, but Psych is excellent and Burn Notice is pretty good.
