I like how it seems to promise an even longer plot line, although I suppose the identity of the meddler might be revealed in the next special.
Indeed.
Hmmm. The aunt had to have been eaten after he visited the first time, or Amelia would not have remembered her. I cannot remember if she mentions the aunt once she grows up.
I agree.
He is proving more than satisfactory. As are his companions. I don't think I have been enthusiastic about everyone in the TARDIS before.
I am still not clear about that. What did he tell her? Did he say that about the TARDIS? If so, that went in one ear and out the other, but it did strike me as a remarkably good description of the TARDIS.
My one question is this: how on earth did the Doctor get the time-device? When did River take it off? I thought she still had it in the TARDIS when it exploded!
So there we have it. I am very satisfied. It was jam packed with wibbly-wobbly timey-whimey madness of the sort I love, and the sort that Moffat is very good at creating.
Indeed.
What do people think?
I think it was brilliant. I was tantalizingly close on some of my speculations. I was right that Jacket Doctor was from the future, but I was wrong about how he got there, and a little off on his importance to the overall story (but not completely off); I was right about the meaning of the duck pond in the first episode, and how it meant that Amy would bring the Doctor back by remembering him.
I was completely wrong about Amy's family, and about what was weird about her. Turns out the reason there was no aunt (nor anyone else) was that the crack in the wall was eating them all, erasing them, and also the crack is what made Amy special.

There was no explanation for who sabotaged and blew up the TARDIS, nor why other beings knew about it but the Doctor didn't. Moffat has left these things for next season, and a part of me loves that, because a part of me loves multi-season story arcs. I don't feel bad about having to wait, because the general thrust of this season was wrapped up nicely enough and the ending was satisfying enough to tide me over.
I agree.
I'm tremendously happy that both Amy and Rory will continue as companions for now. I hope they can all stay for a good while, especially Matt Smith. I want him to last longer than three years. A good ten-year run would be lovely.

I vastly enjoyed the bits with the Doctor hopping between time, and I loved the whole end sequence, from the Doctor's spectacular flight into the heart of the explosion up to Amy's "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue!" She remembered what he told her when she was seven. Just like he said.
I am still not clear about that. What did he tell her? Did he say that about the TARDIS? If so, that went in one ear and out the other, but it did strike me as a remarkably good description of the TARDIS.
I love the whole dynamic between this Doctor and the two companions. I especially enjoyed the well-played goodbye joke at the end.
Damn, this show is fun.
