Avatar is the only- ONLY- movie I've seen where the 3D was done beautifully and organically.

...

In Avatar, the picture had depth. You were looking in, instead of the picture coming out.

...

I took my 3D glasses off several times in Avatar and I didn't notice a difference (Yes, I'm sure I saw the 3D version). In Charlotte, NC there is an amusement park formerly known as Carowinds (it was sold a few years ago and I don't know if it changed names). They had a REAL 3D ride called "The 7th Portal" (or something like that). When they said 3D they MEANT it with that. These movies that are promoting 3D just have you put on glasses that hurt your eyes and they make the background just a LITTLE bit 3D. Unless there's shit flying off the screen making me duck in my seat I don't see the point of calling it 3D. I want to see a movie that makes me think I'm actually gonna get hit with debris when something gets blown to hell.

If I see a film in 3d I don't want things jumping out at me, they did that in the 80's and I find it a gratuitous way to use the effects.

I also saw the depth of every shot in Avatar as its attraction rather than adhoc crap coming at me when it suits the scene
