While I like the directing the two of them do, their styles are just too far off of what JAckson did for the LotR, and from del Toro's style; they are not right for the tone and feel necessary to do The Hobbit. There needs to be a sense of wonder and magic to the movies, something I haven't seen in any QT or Ritchie movies yet. That would be a travesty in my opinion, not far off of how bad it would be to have Joss Whedon direct the Kill Bill sequel, or have Oliver Stone directing a Star Wars movie.

Their attitude towards film making, the style and flow, all of it is just not something that matches up with Middle Earth.

If Jackson won't relent and direct the Hobbit movies, then it really needs to be someone like Spielberg, or even Ron Howard (and I am NO fan of Howard).

Maybe, if he was able to do the movie without casting Russell Crowe (and without chopping to pieces the script like he did with Robin Hood) Ridley Scott could pull it off. Frank Oz could do it, and so could Terry Gilliam (hmmm... not a bad idea that). Even James Cameron would be a more fitting choice. Joel Coen could do it.

But really? Seriously? Tarentino or Ritchie? I wouldn't even bother going to see that movie. It just would not be right. There are so many other, BETTER, choices out there:

Brian de Palma
Robert Zemekis
or even Roland Emmerich.
