Ron Howard has signed on to direct three films based on Stephen King's DARK TOWER saga, which would then spin off into a TV series. It's unclear if the movies would cover all seven books and then switch to all-new adventures on TV, or if the films would only adapt the first three books and then switch to TV for the last four.
Either way sounds odd. Especially starting with big budget films and then suddenly going to a TV format when the climax of the story is approaching.
