Firstly I have to say that I think both Smith and Gillan are bedding in well and while the last two episodes haven't gotten the balance between the two characters quite right I'm sure it will come.

I was quite disappointed with this episode. The main problem I felt was that it just went back over a number of plot points which were dealt with in episodes featuring the ninth doctor. London during the blitz was dealt with far better in The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Doctor's hatred of the Daleks (and his losing it and attacking one) was dealt with far better in Dalek and the whole destroy the Daleks or save the Earth choice was dealt with far far better in The Parting of the Ways. Each Ninth Doctor story dealt with it's plot points in a much more emotionally fulfilling way.

Perhaps it was just that this story repeated very recent plot points (I know it was five years ago, but that isn't so long) or maybe it was that it tried to cram so many points into a single episode but I just came away underwhelmed. Also while I agree that the initial idea of Spitfires in space sounded cool, it just didn't work in the end.


As to the Daleks. I'm glad that Moffat has returned the Daleks to their racial purity master race roots. I liked the concept of the half-breed Daleks, but it had run it's course. But what have they done to their design? I really dislike the primary colour thing (apart from the white one) and I'm pretty sure that this is the first time that they have ever changed the dimensions of the Daleks, I just feel that they now look inelegant and clunky which is quite against their original concept.

Also I hope this is the last time we see the Daleks this season. They have set up their return nicely, now lets leave them to be the big bads of next season.

I also feel that they are being a little heavy handed with the cracks n space, compare that to the Bad Wolf theme running through season 1/27
