First, I want to think about the lack of any deaths last night. It's not the first time we've had no deaths, but the night before, Stephen died. This is speculation from me so take it for what it's worth, but it's not like we have a ton of discussion going on.
There are a number of explanations for no deaths. We could have had a doctor role that saved the intended victim, a roleblocker being successful on the potential murdered, a bulletproof vest or otherwise immune night target, etc. Another possibility is some kind of poison that takes time to kill it's target. I was really scratching my head at why Stephen, who was dead to rites from an impending modkill, was targeted for a night kill. If it was a poison that killed him and was used on him the Night before, that would make more sense since it wasn't clear if he was inactive or would be modkilled at that time.
Just speculation, but it would make sense to me if a poison was used on Stephen. One implication of this could be the reason for the lack of deaths... it's taking time for the poison to kick in and do its job. I have no idea if this is true, but it's an interesting thing to consider, unless we have something more traditional to account for the lack of kills (doctor, roleblocker, night immunity, etc.)
