OOC: Need to know -
approximetly how many people in available
how wide the river us
How far down the water is from the edge of the canyon
Whether we're in the middle of a forest
How many days before we need the thing done
and whether or not they plan to transport anything heavier then a two-horse wagon

The river is about 80 meters wide at this point, the waters are six meters below the land presently, though that's obviously higher than their normal level, the region is very much devoid of trees - there's the occasional grouping of small trees, but none would be adequate for constructing anything reliable. There is a very large, very old oak that stands alone in a submerged field on the horizon, but there's only the one and besides, judging by its uniqueness in the region, it's probably sacred or cursed or something. On the plus side, some amount of good timber is already being brought to you by ox cart along with other materials, supplies and tools. You are expected to rebuild the permanent arching stone bridge in an agreeable timeframe, but you need to provide some means of relatively safe crossing for incoming troops and supplies as soon as possible. It is your understanding that men are already traveling the road, and if they were not delayed by the floods, they'd be here before the end of the week. You will be provided with necessary supplies by ship as soon as the river is safely navigable.
As for the amount of men you have, you obviously know better than I, you've been provided with a more than adequate number of Servicemen given the urgency of the situation. Your core group numbers fourteen.
OOC: Unless I'm specifically playing cleric or paladin I usually default to 'the local pantheon', go the flat-earth atheist route, or follow Qunecil'Nyquil the God of Mass Human Sacrifice when evil or Metagamur the Wise Advisor of Adventurers. I'd say this fellow would tend to follow the equivalent of Vulcan.
All right, I'll work it out then. Something based on European pre-Christian religions then, to be original. Your god would likely be Farrikan Dracoumon, which means 'Farrikan Dragonlungs', to be detailed as inspiration or need strikes. In the meanwhile, since I've already worked the seasonal flooding into the regional culture, I'll note that Moolyagers and Forkers, unlike Cressen and other humans from the region who have the same generalised religion call the Mother Goddess Amorcelle 'the Weeping Mother' because they believe at the tail end of winter she watches all that her children have done and weeps for their sins, which is the cause of the spring rains and subsequent flooding. One day, they believe, humanity (or sentient life, depending on the particular priest, though it's largely a human religion) will have become so corrupt and done things so awful that the Weeping Mother's tears will drown the world. Obviously, this was the source of the apocalyptic frenzy that gripped the commoners this year.
Incidentally, I should note that this is merely the local religion. The Empire has not pressed for the adoption of any sort of religion, nor do the Illuminated seem to have a religion of their own. Frankly, they don't seem to care at all, but they don't seem to care much about a lot of human concerns.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
