What I remember is that I really liked their Elayne (important, as she was always my favourite in the books) and that was about it for positive notes.

View original postReally wish we'd gotten a proper Ishamael and Rand fighting in the skies above Falme. Absolutely adored the wild take they went with on the Forsaken. Even if you hate what was done with them in the show, I think everyone here agrees that the Forsaken in the books are very, very weirdly used. I appreciate that they decided to try for something else. For the most part, I liked it.
Now that you mention it, I do remember liking Selene/Lanfear and to some extent their saner take on Ishamael - though the Moghedien reveal was very lame.

I don't care that the show seems to have gotten rid of the saidin/saidar power disparity, because that was always particularly stupid, but the strongest of the Forsaken should not be struggling against a novice. I would begrudgingly accept him being taken off-guard for a few moments by Nynaeve, but it's very silly from Egwene.
They've shown zero respect since the start for any of the established 'rules' regarding the OP, Aes Sedai or any related topic. I suppose in fairness they couldn't expect their audience to remember or appreciate all the rules anyway, but still, even non-book-fans have to realize that 'at any given time the Power can do precisely what the plot requires at that particular moment, nothing more, nothing less' is a very poor approach.
View original posttl;dr I understand why people who adore the books hate the show, but I think it's a pretty entertaining fanfic that's been put on the screen. And, more controversially, I think an attempt at an extremely faithful adaptation would be worse than what we currently have.
I think every fan knows an adaptation was always going to have to cut lots of stuff, amalgamate lots of minor characters, etc. But it could've been done by writers who know and like the books, at least.
So I binged Season Two of the show.
