The condoms story is fake - and quite unrelated to the improper payments issue anyway. Legolas Send a noteboard - 05/02/2025 10:42:13 PM

View original postOutraged by Trump's buyout offers to all federal employees? The practice was started by President Clinton who successfully reduced the government workforce by over 100,000 utilizing buyouts.

Did the Clinton administration also make such an offer to nearly the entire federal workforce and offer to pay them their full wages for eight more months if they quit effective immediately? Obviously that sounds like and almost certainly IS a scam, but since you're talking about waste of government money...
View original postYet these exercises in selective memory are far less puzzling than the current outrage over Elon and his DOGE employees. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Democrats are having apoplexy over 20 something year old code savants using AI to uncover improper or unjustifiable expenditures, rather than the acknowledged fact that in the past 20 years our government has payed out 2.7 TRILLION dollars in improper payments!!! Oh, and that phrase, improper payments, comes from the GAO, not me.

Yeah, the apoplexy isn't about unjustifiable expenditures being cut, it's about giving random people who've had zero vetting full access to private data of most American citizens.
View original postWhere is the national outrage over this? This should be a huge scandal. But it is not. Why? These payments are obviously fraudulent if not outright money laundering. Or do some think we were actually going to send 50 million condoms to Palestine, a nation of approximately 2-3 million. These are our tax dollars being systematically stolen.

You should really know better by now than to assume that there is even the remotest factual basis for anything Trump or his press secretaries say, until it's actually been verified by someone serious. He randomly makes shit up on a daily basis, in case you've been living under a rock for the past ten years... which you'd think would also be a valid reason for national outrage, but no, the conservative half of the country thinks that's all very fine and there isn't any need for the White House to have any credibility.

About the actual improper payments issue as reported by GAO, see my other reply - I certainly don't mean to imply by all of the above that that shouldn't be taken seriously.
