The Dodgers, and my father's family, originated in Brooklyn, but we didn't move as far west as the team did. Which means most games on the weekdays start after 10 PM, so forget watching the game if you have to get up at 5 to go to work (fortunately, work doesn't pick up until later in the morning so I have plenty of time to watch the game online the next day).
Before the internet, the newspapers generally didn't even have the results of the game the next morning.
The one good thing is that there are a lot of Dodger fans still on the East Coast, so I don't often get accused of being a bandwagon fan, now that they're good. We went to a couple games at Yankee Stadium this past summer. The Dodgers won the first game in extra innings, and from the sound of the crowd, you'd have thought we were in Chavez Ravine.
