Yes, these escalations reek of desperately trying to improve Zelensky's hand before the inauguration. And Putin is certainly smart enough to see that, and ignore the subsequent saber rattling from Great Britain.
It boggles my mind though, that both Britain and the US would take that risk. "Putin is bluffing, he won't do shit," isn't a brilliant stratagem. I can almost understand Biden doddering off to the home with no fucks to give. But not really.
I'm sure you're right and this will be over soon. My hope is if it further escalates, I have enough time to buy a $200 dollar cigar and a bottle of 40 year old single malt to enjoy on my front porch while I wait for the MIRVs hit.
